How much would you charge per hour as a hand knitter?

Of course the type of stitch being used is a factor, but on average, how much would you charge?

I always charge by the project rather than the hour, as it’s not always possible to know ahead of time how many hours something will take. My customers picked the pattern and I’d take a look at it and give them a price for me to hand knit it. They bought and paid for the yarn, too. My best customer had a knitting machine and she made her skirts on that and had me hand knit the tops to go with them. Depending on how complicated the pattern was, and whether it was a long or short sleeve top, or a vest, my price usually ranged from $50 to $150 per top for the labor. This was several years ago, though, and my prices would be more now.
